The Arc Pikes Peak Region Brings Inspiring Film STANDOUT: The Ben Kjar Story to Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, March 10, 2026 — The Arc Pikes Peak Region is proud to bring the inspiring film STANDOUT: The Ben Kjar Story to Colorado Springs for the first time ever as part of Developmental Disability Awareness Month. The organization will host a special day of screenings on Thursday, March 26 at RoadHouse Cinemas, located at 3030 N Nevada Ave Ste B, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, to celebrate resilience, inclusion, and awareness for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Two public community screenings will take place at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, inviting members of the Colorado Springs community to experience the powerful true story of Ben Kjar. The film follows Kjar, who was born with Crouzon Syndrome, a rare craniofacial disorder, and chronicles his journey overcoming adversity, bullying, and numerous surgeries to become a wrestling champion and advocate for embracing differences.

Tickets for the public showings are $7 per person and include popcorn and a soda for each attendee. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase through RoadHouse Cinemas. The film runs 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Later that evening, The Arc Pikes Peak Region will host an invite-only VIP cocktail hour, and private screening designed to bring together community leaders, elected officials, and key partners to celebrate Developmental Disability Awareness Month and discuss future initiatives.

The VIP evening will begin with a cocktail hour from 5:00–6:00 PM, featuring appetizers and networking with community leaders. The private screening will begin at 6:15 PM.

During the VIP event, guests will also learn about the Achieve Recreation Center, an exciting new project from The Arc Pikes Peak Region that will expand recreation, connection, and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Colorado Springs community.

“This event is an opportunity to bring our community together through storytelling and shared experiences,” said Wilfred Romero, Chief Executive Officer of The Arc Pikes Peak Region. “Standout reflects the resilience, strength, and determination we see every day in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are honored to share this inspiring film while raising awareness and building momentum for initiatives like the Achieve Recreation Center.”
