A large part of our advocacy work at The Arc Pikes Peak Region focuses on providing guardianship for 75 adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
As legal guardians for these individuals, we look beyond the disability to get to know the individual. Maintaining strong relationships with our guardianship program participants helps us to make decisions in their best interest, acting as an extension of the individual.
Today, we invite you to meet one of our guardianship program participants, Tandy, in the video below. Tandy shares what it means to her that The Arc Pikes Peak Region is her guardian, and how we have helped her to become a self-advocate.
We help individuals with I/DD and their families by providing educational, judicial, guardianship and general advocacy. If you are looking for advocacy for yourself or a family member with I/DD, please give our office a call at (719) 471-4800.
