The Colorado Primary Election is on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Voting is one way you can help choose leaders who make decisions about your community.
What Is a Primary Election?
A primary election helps political parties choose which candidates will be on the ballot in the November election.
Think of it like a first round of voting.
The winners of the primary election move on to the General Election in November.
Who Can Vote?
If you are:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years old by Election Day
- Registered to vote in Colorado
You can vote!

How Do I Vote?
Vote by Mail
Colorado mails a ballot to every active registered voter.
When you get your ballot:
- Fill it out.
- Sign the envelope.
- Return it.
The recommended deadline for mailing in your ballot is Monday, June 22nd to make sure it is received on time. After June 22nd, drop off your ballot at a designated Drop Box.
Use a Ballot Drop Box
You can put your ballot in a secure ballot drop box. Your ballot must be received by 7:00 p.m. on June 30.
Vote In Person
You can also vote in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center. Staff can help answer questions and provide voting support if needed.

Why Does Voting Matter?
Voting helps you speak up about things that are important to you.
People who are elected make decisions about:
- Health care
- Medicaid
- Jobs
- Housing
- Transportation
- Schools
- Disability services
When you vote, you help choose leaders who will make these decisions.
Voting Rights for People with Disabilities
People with disabilities have the same right to vote as everyone else.
You have the right to:
- Vote privately
- Get help if you need it
- Use accessible voting equipment
- Ask for accommodations at voting locations
If you need help voting, contact your County Clerk’s Office or visit GoVoteColorado.gov.

Before Election Day:
☐ Check that you are registered to vote.
☐ Watch for your ballot in the mail.
☐ Decide how you will vote:
- By mail
- At a drop box
- In person
☐ Return your ballot by June 30.
