Family Navigator: Succeeding in School and Life

Support parents and their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the Succeeding in School and Life: A Parent Empowerment Program (S&L). This role focuses on providing support for S&L events and family-centered navigation services, emphasizing parent empowerment through education and peer connection.

What you’ll do

  • Help plan and execute inclusive social programming for teen-to-young adults with disabilities and their parents, with emphasis on relationship-building and peer connection
  • Provide onsite support for S&L program events and serve as a consistent point of contact for parents
  • Work directly with parents to identify individualized goals for their children with disabilities and plan for support
  • Assist families in navigating education and community-based supports; provide referrals, information, and connections to relevant resources
  • Collaborate with the Advocacy Coordinator to ensure programming aligns with family needs and interests
  • Maintain appropriate documentation related to family engagement, referrals, and program participation

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social services, special needs, or related field strongly preferred
  • Lived experience supporting individuals with disabilities is highly valued
  • Prior experience working with families of students with special learning or behavioral needs
  • Strong communication, organizational skills, and tech proficiency (Canva, Google Workspace, Excel)
  • Commitment to 3–4 evening events per month (occasional weekends)
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and successful background check required
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
